ATLANTA, GA April 4, 2005 -- Pathfire, the leading provider of digital content distribution and management solutions for the broadcast, media & entertainment industries, announces the availability of Pathfire Direct, their point-to-point newsgathering solution. Pathfire Direct enables networks, broadcasters with remote bureaus or station groups to easily preview, monitor and move both live and store-and-forward video from one location to another.
By taking advantage of superior encoding formats and live streaming technology, news organizations are able to preview and monitor live content from networked locations. Utilizing any IP-enabled network, whether terrestrial, VSAT or Digital ENG, stories can be monitored, transferred and aired without incurring the costs and mechanics of scheduling satellite or fiber linear feeds. Using Microsoft's Windows Media 9 Series codec, content transmission and encoding occur simultaneously, significantly reducing transmission times.

Items can be delivered to another Pathfire Direct device, an FTP server or web server. Files are then available for easy transfer into news production systems. Stories automatically appear on the system, ready and available when needed.
