Pathfire Launches Browser-Based
Interface for its
Popular DMG News Application
ATLANTA, GA, November, 2004 -
Pathfire, Inc., the leading provider of digital
content distribution and management solutions
for the broadcast industry, announced today
the release of Browser DMG, which allows journalists
to access, preview and transfer all Pathfire-delivered
news content.
Pathfire's Digital Media Gateway
(DMG), an automated IP multicast distribution
platform, distributes and manages content to
over 1,100 broadcast stations in the US and
Canada. Browser DMG, the latest evolution of
the Pathfire DMG application, incorporates all
the powerful features of the familiar DMG desktop
application with the speed and ease of a user-
and resource-friendly browser.
"Producers and editors can
continue to create media lists, preview stories
and dub items to VTRs or transfer video as files
via DMG Server Connect for News to nonlinear
editing systems all from within the convenience
of a browser interface," said Rick Young,
Pathfire Director of Product Management. "The
browser interface closely emulates the DMG layout
users already interface with everyday. We achieved
our objective of adding substantial workflow
enhancements to our more than 8000 daily newsroom
desktops without requiring any staff retraining.
IT and engineering staff love Browser DMG because
it saves significant investments of time on
new upgrades as we continue to grow and enhance
the DMG network."
Pathfire Browser DMG provides
easy remote access to Pathfire-delivered news
content. Now, a reporter working in the field
can connect to the station network and read
scripts and preview stories delivered by any
news provider.
"Browser DMG is so cool and
fast! I have a feeling that's going to be the
most-loved feature of all. If you are a producer
or someone who needs to check content, it's
so nice to be able to click on your browser
and have the list of stories there IMMEDIATELY,"
said Mike Pardee of WLOX, Biloxi, MS.
