Pathfire Announces DMG News
Connect, Integrating News Content and Management
Functions Directly into Popular Newsroom Computer
Systems
ATLANTA, GA, September 21, 2004
-- Pathfire, the leading provider of digital
content distribution and management solutions
for the broadcast industry, announced today
the availability of its Digital Media Gateway
(DMG) News Connect. The inaugural release of
DMG News Connect software integrates Pathfire's
leading-edge DMG content management functionality
into the Avid iNEWS newsroom computer
system (NCS). Integration with other popular
newsroom computer systems is coming soon.
In DMG News Connect, Pathfire-delivered scripts
and metadata move automatically from DMG servers
directly into the user environment that is at
the center of the newsroom production process,
eliminating the need to switch between separate
applications. DMG News Connect enables newsroom
personnel to search for stories available from
all Pathfire-delivered news archives while they
are searching other news resources such as wire
services, scripts and assignments. The Pathfire
delivered news inventory is automatically updated
on the NCS as it is updated on the DMG server
so DMG items that appear in the newsroom computer
system are always timely and available.
"Pathfire's family of Connect Solutions
integrate with play-to-air servers, news editing
systems, automation systems and now, newsroom
computer systems. DMG News Connect allows newsrooms
to search, move metadata and output content
all within their familiar desktop newsroom application,"
said Ryad Kahale, Pathfire Director of Sales,
Broadcast Groups and Stations.
Further maximizing workflow efficiency, users
can now view the low-resolution preview video
right from the NCS and drag and drop the included
script directly into rundown scripts. DMG News
Connect allows story or media list transfer
to output destinations, including Pathfire's
DMG Server Connect for News or Pathfire video
workstations.
