Content Through Pathfire's Digital Media Gateway
ATLANTA, GA, September 8, 2004
- Pathfire, Inc., the leading provider of digital
content distribution and management solutions
for the broadcast industry, announced today
an agreement with Mayo Foundation for Medical
Education and Research to distribute Mayo Clinic's
Medical Edge news segments and breaking news
packages to broadcast affiliates throughout
the US and Canada. Using Pathfire's Digital
Media Gateway (DMG) technology, newsroom
personnel can now access and preview Mayo Clinic
medical news content directly from their desktops
and integrate it into local newscasts.
An award-winning group of journalists
working closely with a team of Mayo Clinic physicians
and surgeons produces the people-oriented Medical
Edge programming, which covers medical advancements,
treatment options and general health information.
In addition to these weekly news features, which
are made available to one news station in each
television market, Mayo Clinic will use Pathfire
to distribute video resources to accompany news
releases about the latest medical studies and
scientific publications. More information about
Medical Edge is available at http://www.mayoclinic.org/news/television.html.
Pathfire's DMG, an automated IP
multicast distribution platform, distributes
and manages news, syndication, ads, and short-form

Canada. "By digitally distributing their
compelling and highly respected medical news
using the Pathfire DMG, Mayo Clinic is making
it simpler and more convenient for broadcast
stations to receive and integrate content into
their health reporting," said Pat Poersch,
Pathfire Director of Short-Form Content Distribution.
"Pathfire's vast footprint of broadcast
receive sites enables Mayo Clinic to extend
distribution of their content to newsrooms across
the US." Newsroom personnel can access
