Leaders Sign Agreement to Jointly Develop Digital
Content Repository that Automatically Connects and
Moves Television Programming Content and Metadata
Pathfire, Inc., the leading
provider of digital content distribution and management
solutions for the broadcast television industry,
today announced a technology licensing agreement
with Masstech Group Inc., an innovator in systems
for end-to-end digital content control and management,
to jointly develop a digital content repository
that automatically ingests, connects and moves television
programming content and its associated metadata
directly to air.
“Together, Pathfire and Masstech are innovating
hands-free ingest-to-prep-to-air functionality,
permitting broadcasters to receive, store, retrieve
and air programming automatically, without any manual
intervention,” explains Joe Fabiano, Pathfire
Chief Technical Officer.
The two companies agreed to license and integrate
powerful Pathfire Digital Media Gateway (DMG) protocols,
tools and services with Masstech’s robust
database storage products to create an automation
solution that will significantly cut costs for broadcasters
while streamlining processes for greater workflow
efficiency.
“During the past year we have demonstrated
the proof of concept to broadcasters, Hollywood
syndicators and other digital content providers
who are impressed with the speed and operational
savings afforded by moving content files directly
from Pathfire DMG servers to either play-to-air
systems or nearline/archival storage through the
Masstech Mass Media Box. This solution will also
support advanced coding schemes in the future allowing
both faster delivery and movement and increased
storage capacity. ” said Sudy Shen, Masstech
CEO.
Product availability is planned for the first half
of 2004.
